Rotate and flip an image, or straighten a crooked scan — free and private

A photo comes out sideways. A scanned page is tilted by two degrees. You don't need an editor for that — the Image Rotate & Flip tool turns or flips a picture in one click, right in your browser, no upload.

Rotate vs flip — what's the difference

Rotate spins the whole image 90, 180 or 270 degrees (quarter turns). Flip mirrors it: horizontally (like looking in a mirror) or vertically (upside-down mirror). They solve different problems — rotate fixes orientation, flip fixes a backwards-looking logo or a selfie that reads wrong.

Straighten a tilted scan

For scans that are slightly off, use the fine angle control: nudge a degree or two until the text lines sit level, then export. It's faster than re-scanning.

If the page also needs cropping, do the rotate first, then crop — order matters. Rotating after cropping can leave you with angled edges.

Keep it private

Like the rest of the image tools here, rotation is done on-device. The file is read into your browser, transformed with the Canvas API, and handed back as a download. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

Can I rotate by an exact angle, not just 90 degrees?

Yes. Use the fine angle slider (typically -45 to 45 degrees) to straighten a slightly tilted photo or scan by a fraction of a degree.

Will rotating reduce quality?

For JPG exports there is a small re-encode, but for typical use the visual difference is negligible. Export as PNG to avoid any re-compression.

Does my image get uploaded?

No. Rotation and flipping run locally in your browser; the image never leaves your device.
